Wild West classic costumes

Poptropicans are loving the peacemaker and outlaw costumes that we released to the Poptropica Store a couple of weeks ago. Did you know there are some older costumes in the store that would fit right in on Wild West Island?

The cowboy and cowgirl costumes give you that classic western look, and at only 75 credits each, they're less expensive than the new costumes, too. Of course, for Poptropica Members, all costumes are free to wear.

Don't forget that you can mix and match pieces from different costumes to create your own unique style. Let's see what kinds of Wild West creations you can come up with!

A Smashing good time

Time for another check of the ol' leaderboards in the Daily Pop games section. Here's a look at your current leaders in the brick-obliterating game "Smashing."

Not bad! As of this writing, the day's high score belongs to Incredible Boa, with a respectable 106,000 points. The high score for the week is property of Brave Eel, whose 511,500 points almost quintuple Incredible Boa's. But your leader for the month is...

Grumpy Lightning, with a staggering score of 1,199,000. Well done, Grumpy Lightning! 

While we're at it, let's see how your old pal Captain Crawfish is doing.

All right, not so great. It was a practice round. If I'd been playing for real, I'd have beaten Grumpy Lightning easily.

Grumpy Lightning's record will stand for another week before monthly scores reset next Friday, April 1, so if you want to beat him and see your name in lights for March, you'd better get cracking! Or smashing, as it were.

We have some exciting news for our fellow Poptropicans! Thanks to our friends at 20th Century Fox, who made the new movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, now everyone can play Wimpy Wonderland during the Early Access period.

Poptropica is a Wild Wimpy Western Wonderland over the next few days. First, Wild West Island becomes available to everybody tomorrow, March 11. If you've been waiting patiently to ride across the dusty plains, your wait is almost over!

Poptropica Tips and Tricks: The Slap Jack fake-out

One of the games on Wild West Island is a version of the card game Slap Jack. It follows the standard rules: you and your opponents take turns dealing one card into the center pile. When somebody puts down a Jack, the first player to slap the pile wins the cards. You win when all of your opponents have run out of cards. Sounds pretty simple, right?

Well, it is, except for one thing: the fake-out.

When you're dealing a Jack from your pile, you can bluff. Slide the card only partway to the center of the table, then pull it back, and there's a chance one of your opponents might slap the pile anyway. If they do, you get a card from their draw pile.

But be careful! Your opponents will try to fake you out, too. The same rule applies: if you slap the pile before the Jack is placed, you'll lose a card to the player who tricked you.

Good luck out there. As with everything you'll do on Wild West Island, the stakes are high.

This game looks pretty hard to me. I wish i could play Wild West already that's because I am not a member in Poptropica. I hope it was open to everyone in Poptropica already.

You guessed right: the next Poptropica Island is set in the world of Diary of a Wimpy Kid! It's called "Wimpy Wonderland," and you can get all the details about it on our new Wimpy Wonderland info page.

Even better, you can log onto Poptropica right now for a sneak preview of Wimpy Wonderland. Just go to the map screen and fly your blimp to Wimpy Wonderland Island.

You'll see a few familiar characters on Main Street, including Greg Heffley.
